What are the Best Lotto Numbers?

Choosing lotto numbers is a very personal thing. Each person has their own way of doing so, some use dates that are important to them, and some simply pick random numbers. The bad news is that there is no hard and fast formula for choosing the best lotto numbers. At the end of the day the game is a random one of chance, and if it were that easy to do a lot more people in the world would be millionaires. That being said, there are a few strategies that have been developed over the years to help you to choose your best lotto numbers.

The first and easiest is to simply buy a quickpick ticket. These are tickets that have pre loaded numbers on them already, which takes all the guess work out of it for you. Since the lotto itself is random, it stands to reason that a random quickpick ticket has just as much chance as winning as a carefully chosen one. This is not an option for control freaks however,

Important Dates

One of the most popular methods is to use dates that are important to you in some way. These could be children’s birthdays, pet’s birthdays, anniversaries or anything really. There is no clear proof that using important days increases your chances, but if you are of the superstitious persuasion then this method may hold the most appeal to you. To do this you will need to choose one to three important dates, and use their numbers to pick your balls, for example 31 Aug 1982 would be 31 08 82.

Use the Historically Lucky Numbers

This method is not involving your lucky numbers, although of course adding your own into the mix may or may not have any effect whatsoever. Historically there are a few numbers that have proven themselves luckier than others, and have come up in winning combinations both in the powerball and in the main lotto. The numbers 20, 6, 29, 2, and 18 are the most drawn common numbers. The most common powerball number is 26. The opposite of this theory is to pick the most unpopular numbers. These are the numbers that have not come up in winning combinations and are thus statistically overdue. To do this may involve a bit of research into your particular regions lotto history, to find out what the winning numbers, and thus the non chosen ones actually are.

Choose All the Numbers

Statistically this method will work, but to do it you may just have to be a millionaire to begin with, which will kind of negate the whole purpose of buying a lotto ticket in the first place. If you buy a whole whack load of tickets, with as many of the combinations as possible, statistically you are much more likely to win than the guy next to you who has only bought one ticket. As mentioned however, this is a very expensive way to do things, and is probably not possible for most lotto ticket buyers.

Stick to your Best Lotto Numbers

If you keep changing numbers every time that you buy a ticket, you are more likely to have a terribly unlucky experience and have last week’s numbers drawn this week as the winning jackpot. If you pick a set of numbers and stick to them, the chances are that they may get chosen eventually are there. It may not be in your lifetime, but then again, it may. It’s worth a shot.
